I went around driving in our neighborhood, looking at doors today. I've been meaning to take some pictures of similar post-war constructions near our house and do more research on them, and with David Erwin's new door repro business (see previous post and new link in the list to the right), I thought I'd compare Eugene vernacular with Texas.
I'll post other images later. Right now, I just wanted to highlight my favorite door. I upped the contrast and cropped the photo, so the quality isn't terrific, but I hope you can see the best mcm door ever. It has jaunty diamond-shaped windows and wood strips between the windows. It's near Jefferson, Adams, and Washington Streets, but instead of Tom, John Quincey, or George, I think it should be called the "Eugene" -- ha!
